In Total, 350 Kids were given biscuits. Those kids and their parents were told about the evils of illiteracy and benefits of education. Out of 200 there were 24 kids who were not going to school even after 6 yrs of age. Unfortunately all of these kids were female between the ages 6 to 14. Their parents were called and counselled regarding the benefits of education. They told reasons for not sending their kids to school such as their child was helping at home by taking care of younger ones when their parents were out on labour work. Few of them said that they did not have enough money to support the education of their child. After convincing them time and again, 15 of them finally showed interest, their names and contact details were noted for further proceedings.

Education Awareness Campaign at Red Lights in Gurgaon (Date 06th Sep' 2016)

Details:
This was the second round at the red light after a month. For a pleasant change, most of the children were taken to their home districts to continue their education as per our last counseling to the head of this group Shyonarayan. Most of the beggars here work as Balloon vendors, Toy and other items’ sellers but eventually all of them are into begging. They all are closely related to each other by blood. They claim to be temporarily residing in Wazirabad village Jhuggis behind Petrol Pump. This group of about 20 people was accompanied by their children who were roughly between 6 months to 14 years. They stated that all of their kids are studying in their home district i.e. Sawai Madhopur. Most of these carried Aadhaar Cards and Election cards.

Our Contribution:
A few packets of biscuits and water bottles were distributed to them and they were told about the importance of education for their children. They were also asked whether they were interested in getting themselves educated, they simply denied as they were shy for their age. When they were told that all of the students in such class would be of their age only, then they showed some interest towards their education. They were also told about the evils of staying uneducated.
